Rainbow Registered Accreditation Program for 2SLGBTQI+ Friendly Spaces

Not only is having 2SLGBTQI+ friendly policies in your company the right thing to do – it’s also good for business. That’s why Canada’s 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC), with Tourism HR Canada, have collaborated to launch the Rainbow Registered Accreditation Program for 2SLGBTQI+ friendly business and organizations.

What Does it Mean to be Rainbow Registered?

Rainbow Registered is a national accreditation for 2SLGBTQI+ friendly businesses and organizations. When you see a Rainbow Registered symbol, you know the business or organization meets a stringent set of standards to ensure 2SLGBTQI+ customers feel safe, welcomed, and accepted.

The accreditation program grants a time-limited recognition to businesses and organizations for demonstrating compliance with the quality standard. Accredited businesses are deemed market ready for the 2SLGBTQI+ customer and given the right to be associated with the program’s prestigious Rainbow Registered designation mark.

Where to find Rainbow Registered businesses?

These businesses demonstrate that they are consistent in their efforts and committed to providing a more welcoming and accepting 2SLGBTQI+ customer and staff experience.

The Benefits of Accreditation

Ensure 2SLGBTQI+ customers feel welcome and accepted

In addition to benefiting from guidelines that provide information and advice on ensuring 2SLGBTQI+ customers feel welcome and accepted, accredited businesses will be able to demonstrate and market themselves as safe destinations for the 2SLGBTQI+ market.

Accredited businesses will be listed in the Rainbow Registered directory – the national directory of businesses certified as 2SLGBTQI+ friendly – and will have the opportunity to display the program’s distinguishable Rainbow Registered designation mark in their business or storefront.

Additional Benefits

  • Rainbow Registered Welcome Kit (window decal, desk card)
  • Basic listing and map inclusion in the Rainbow Registered business directory
  • Website badge
  • Access to CGLCC Associate Member Benefits

Accreditation Process

Review the program guide

Before getting started, read through the Step-by-Step Program Guide and Appeals Process.

Complete the Application Form

Register for a CGLCC account and then complete the application form. Once your application has been received, an assessor will connect with you to review your submission and related supporting documents*. All information supplied is kept confidential and applicants will receive a notification confirming receipt of their application form and payment.

*Once your application is complete you will have the option to upload supporting documents.

Large corporations or businesses with multiple locations should email prior to applying to discuss registration options.

After all the documents on the checklist are received, CGLCC will coordinate an assessment to review the company documentation and verify information in the application.

Decision and Next Steps

CGLCC will notify applicants of the decision and of next steps. Applicants who do not meet the standard for accreditation will be provided with feedback on any gaps and recommendations for improvement.
