Founder, makingTheMove
Teniola Onabanjo, the founder and CEO of makingTheMove, leverages her journey from Nigeria to Canada to empathize with the challenges newcomers face. Through workshops, one-on-one coaching, and speaking engagements, she has supported and engaged with organizations such as the Council of Nigerian Professionals, Black Aspiring Physicians of McMaster, Restoration House, and the Black Founders Network. In 2023, Teniola spoke with over 100,000 women in technology and company changemakers, emphasizing the importance of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Her efforts in advancing DEI were recognized with the CNP Catalyst for Change award.

Recognizing the significance of coaching, resources, and networking in the Canadian job market, Teniola founded makingTheMove to connect skilled newcomers from Africa with job opportunities that match their expertise before and after their arrival in Canada.

Teni also has experience collaborating with teams to retain, increase, and advance underrepresented groups. Teniola holds an undergraduate degree in Economics and a Human Resources diploma from McMaster University.

Coach, makingTheMove
Tosin Adeniyi is the founder and lead brand consultant at Outerbox, a branding and content agency focused on founders of small-to-medium businesses.

She has spent the better part of the last decade working in various capacities in branding and marketing. Her work has impacted brands like LCBO, McDonald’s, The Home Depot, RBC, The Source, Bell, and more.

She is passionate about driving conversations and action in areas of diversity, equity and inclusion. As a marketer, she has played an active role in improving representation of visible minorities in campaign casting.

Beyond her DEI contributions in various corporate organizations, Tosin spearheaded a mentorship and education program, All Things Ad, which impacted 150+ Black youth seeking entry into the Canadian advertising industry. This effort earned her a feature in Strategy Magazine’s Shift Disturber series.

Building off her personal successes, Tosin also creates content and resources like courses and workbooks to teach professional skills to creative people.

All things considered, it makes perfect sense that her mantra is “helping people recognize their magic”.
