The global travel and tourism industry has achieved consistent growth above the global gross domestic product (GDP). This global trend was expected to continue into the 2020s. Although the tourism industry in Canada has also achieved growth, it has not captured its full potential. When compared to countries like the United States and Australia, tourism is a small portion of Canada’s total export volumes.
