Training & Mentoring
The CGLCC is involved in training and mentoring in two ways:
- It creates and delivers its own programs aimed at developing the capacity of LGBT+ business owners and entrepreneurs.
- It endorses and facilitates access to supporting materials and training for businesses of all kinds.
Programs Created by the CGLCC
LGBT+ Youth Entrepreneur Program
The program empowers LGBT+ entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 39 by providing them with financial support and tailored guidance to help them establish or grow their own businesses. The one-year program has four components:
- access to funding
- building business skills
Launched in 2017, the program helps a new group of young entrepreneurs each year.
“Being an entrepreneur can be a difficult road to navigate. Being a young LGBTQ entrepreneur adds a few more layers to this challenge because of the barriers faced due to sexual orientation, gender identity, and age. Business support and mentoring programs that not only nurture the entrepreneurial spirit of young LGBTQ entrepreneurs, but acknowledge and address these barriers (within the program and outside of it) can go a long way to ensuring not only success, but resilience.”Annemarie Shrouder

LGBT+ Diversity and Inclusion Training for Workplaces
The CGLCC offers an online training course on LGBT+ diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Created by Trust Communications Inc. and fully endorsed by the CGLCC, the four-module course is available to businesses of all sizes.
It educates participants about LGBT+ communities and the challenges faced by LGBT+ individuals in the workplace. Participants learn practical ways to create an inclusive, supportive environment in which each employee feels appreciated and participates fully and productively in the workplace.
